The 8th plenary meeting of the Police Service Commission (PSC) had commenced on Tuesday with top priorities centred on Police Discipline, Promotion and investigation and is scheduled to end today (Thursday)
The meeting is said to be powered through a virtual presentation by Google zoom and was presided over by the commission’s chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired inspector general of police.
A statement signed by ikechukwu Ani, head of Public Relation Unit of the commission and that which was sighted by our correspondent stated that the meeting took a far-reaching decision on pending police disciplinary cases, police promotion, recommendations on concluded police investigations and several other pending matter.
The statement puts; that the 8th plenary meeting earlier scheduled for Tuesday 24th march 2020 was put off indefinitely and that the suspension was in accordance with the containment safety measures of the federal government in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.
“The plenary meeting is the highest decision-making body of the commission and it considers recommendations from its different standing committees”
“The commission has since set up a COVID-19 committee and the committee has ensured full compliance with directives and advice on the COVID-19 pandemic preventive measures”.
“The committee is currently in the second phase of sensitization of staffs on how to personalize these measures as required by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) especially with the rate of community spread”
