After Discovering some illegal construction sites at Banana island penultimate week and subsequently went ahead to seal those identified construction sites in other to serve as deterrent to others and to sustain zero tolerance for illegal Developments, the Lagos state ministry of physical planning and urban development had again discovered and sealed another 42 illegal buildings with ongoing construction sites at lekki as it extends special enforcement operation to that location specifically.
In a statement Made Available to Urban Express News through the ministry’s Director for Public Affairs, Mr. Mukaila Sanusi said the operation was lead by the commissioner of physical planning and urban Development, Dr Idris Salako.
He was quoted as saying that the commissioner, Dr Salako said it was high time the menace of illegal buildings becomes a thing of the past as it had become necessary to stem the tide of building collapse and also protect the built environment for posterity though enforcing adherence to planning.
This explains why we must stop those who are bent on jeopardizing the operative developments plans of the state by not tolerating any form of illegal physical development in the state, he said.
Dr Salako emphasised that government would contine to seal erring properties, enforce compliance and even go ahead to prosecute where necessary.
“The physical planning commissioner explains that special operation will begin in lekki phase one from Tuesday when 19 building is sealed, making a total of 42 building even after 23 were sealed on Thursday”.
“Let me urge property owners in lekki phase one and other part of the state to ensure that they always do the needful by complying with the physical planning laws of the state and avoid the embarrassment of having their properties sealed”.
He urge those whose properties were sealed due to these infractions to report to the office of honorable commissioner, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development at Alausa, Ikeja to perfects their documents
