Extortion On Viral Video; AIG Says Act Remains Unprofessional Olusegun Ariyo

Ahmed Iliyasu assumes office as AIG Zone 2The Assistant Inspector General of police in charge of zone two police command, illyasu Mohammed, has reacted to viral video making the rounds where footage shows how some policemen and other security agencies were extorting and taking undue advantage of the interstate lockdown to manipulate commuters and other moving vehicles that is mostly on essential duties and extort them.

A  statement made available to urban express news online through the zonal police public relation officer; Dsp Hauwa Idris said the development caught the attention of  the Assistant inspector general of police in charge of zone police, illyasu Mohammed  where footage shows security agents including police officers on interstate lockdown enforcement   duty at oyingbo and environment.

Hauwa said the AIG in the same vein expresses irk over the unprofessional and unpatriotic conduct of some officers, describing the act as ridiculous and that which is not in line with the mundane system of policing.

She said the Lagos state commissioner of police and his counterpart in Ogun  state  has been directed to investigate and ensure those earrings  are apprehended and disciplinary action be taken against them as he enjoins patriotic Nigerians and members of the public to abide strictly with the presidential lockdown directives.

The zonal PPRO said the AIG has set-out special anti-crime strategies made up of monitoring team x-squad and a task force to curb those menace and also urge all police officers to imbibe respect for the rule of law and human right which is in line with global best practice as no defaulters will go unpunished.
