A Spiritualist identified as Prophetess Evelyn owoleke whose church denomination is cherubim and seraphim with a location at Bayo Street Aboru at Oke-odo in Abule Egba was said to have been arrested over death of a woman during childbirth in her church.
A statement coming from the Lagos state police public relation officer, Dsp Bala elkana said one Seun olorunto, a 35-year-old with residence in same Oke-odo delivered a baby boy by one prophetess Evelyn owoleke at cherubim and seraphim church along Bayo street with a location in Aboru.
Elkana said homicide section of the Lagos state police command’s detectives visited the scene and found the woman lying in the pool of her blood, suggesting that the deceased bled to death due to complications.
The spokesman said the corpse is removed from the church to general hospital yaba for autopsy.
He said the infant delivered was also taken to the hospital for medical examination and care while the spiritual midwife was arrested and taken to state criminal investigation department in yaba.
Meanwhile, the command also arrested a man over the death of a woman while settling disputes in Mushin.
The statement put further that One Anuoluwapo Adeyemi while having a discussion with her husband who came visiting, as they live apart, one Owolabi Fasasi with a resident from Ogun street in Mushin suddenly appeared, threatening to go away with her three-month-old child identified as kausarat Owolabi that he did not explain why he is taking her child away.
Elkana said while people around made frantic efforts to pacify him but refused and instead kept on shouting and threatening violence, insisting on taking her child away.
"This was how the tragedy occurred in the process of dragging the baby in order to actualize his threat, adding that the said Owolabi pushed away from the boss of the child’s mother identified as Taiwo Adekoya who was one of their sympathizers as she became unconscious".
"Taiwo Adekoya was rushed to the hospital but later confirmed dead, elkana added; "the corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy as the suspect was arrested by the homicide detectives".
Elkana said investigation is ongoing and that suspect will be charged to court.
