A Location in obada local government called Anigbobo village in Ogun state specifically had personnel of the Nigeria custom; Ogun state command attacked leaving one severely injured.
A statement coming from its Public Relation officer Abdullahi Maiwada said; men of Nigeria Customs Service Ogun 1 command went on information patrol to Anigbobo village where they succeeded in intercepting thirty-five bags of smuggled per-boiled rice of 50kg each.
He said it was while on their way out of the area of arrest, some unscrupulous elements suspected to be diehard smugglers in their numbers shot sporadically at officers.
“Inspector El-Edeh was shot on his forehead, whilst the injured officer was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for proper medical attention and he is responding to treatment, Maiwada said.
Continuing, Maiwada said the team gallantly responded to the aggression and succeeded in evacuating the smuggled items to the government warehouse for safekeeping adding that investigation is ongoing to fish out the perpetrators.
The custom area comptroller, Michael Agbara assured members of the public that the renewed hostilities by armed smugglers will not deter the officers and men of the command from discharging their statutory responsibilities as he further assured law-abiding members of the public to go about their legitimate activities with the assurance that with the antics deployed by smugglers, they will surely meet their waterloo.
