The police in Zamfara state said it has rescued the District Head of wuya, Alhaji Umar Usman and thirteen others from their assailants.
In a statement, the police said this was done as part of the reconciliation initiative of Zamfara state government in collaboration with the Zamfara state police command.
"Today, 24th of March 2020, the Zamfara state police command in collaboration with the state government and some leaders of the repentant bandits have rescued the district head of wuya Alhaji Umar Usman and thirteen other victims".
Recall that on 21th of March 2020, unidentified armed men stormed wuya and yartasha wuya village of Anka local government and kidnapped the said district head and thirteen others.
Shehu said while handing over the victims to his Excellency, the executive governor of Zamfara state, Mohammed matawalle, cp Usman Nagogo told the governor that the kidnapped were rescued in collaboration with some repentant bandits following an intensive engagement and further assured that more kidnapped victims will soon be rescued.
While thanking the police, governor matawalle appreciate the authority of the command says police and other security agents and the repentant bandits are indeed doing a laudable job and assure them that his government will continue to sustain the ongoing peace process in the state and further vowed to take decisive action against the recalcitrant’s bandits that refused to accept the peace pact.
He however warned YANSAKAI to desist from extrajudicial massacre otherwise they will face the full wrath of the law.
