The Lagos state police command says the arrest and subsequent detention of a member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Hon Shina Peller was because he invaded its Police Division with 50 thugs and his alleged role on traffic gridlock that was said to have been caused by his club known as Quilux with a location at Victoria island
It added; “that traffic officer along Ozumba Mbadiwe had sent a traffic report to makoko police division that the entire road leading to the toll gate is blocked as a result of indiscriminate parking on the major road by customers of Quilox club located at 183 Ozumba Mbadiwe in Victoria island
"The police claimed that three vehicles allegedly parked on a major highway by some customers of the club, which actually caused serious traffic gridlock and obstruction and was removed to the station, this was after club owners had been warned severally over indiscriminate parking on the road by their customers"
“This development accordingly did not go down well with the owner of the said club, Hon. Shina Peller, who allegedly mobilise 50 thugs to invade the station and forcibly move the vehicles away”
The Police Public Relation officer, Dsp Bala Elkana disclose these in a statement that police officers on duty at the station had to send a distress message to its headquarters, calling for reinforcement.
He added ‘police teams from area command were deployed to reinforce the station.
He said the House of representative member from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State and five thugs were arrested while others scale through the fence and escaped.
“The Lagos state commissioner of police, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department for an indebt investigation”
Meanwhile, the press secretary to the House of Representative member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, kola popoola said he was allegedly arrested while trying to take the bail of some clubbers.
The lawmaker is the owner of a popular Lagos club, Quilox.
Kola Popoola claimed that the lawmaker’s offence was not disclosed to him as his phones were seized.
He said, “Peller was at Moroko Police Station to bail some of Club Quilox’s customers who had allegedly parked on the road during a show at the club.
“Prior to the kickoff of the 36 hours non-stop show which usually holds every year at Quilox, Peller had informed the concerned Lagos traffic authorities to avoid unnecessary traffic gridlock.
“On getting to Moroko Police Station, the police started harassing Peller and even went as far as seizing all his phones for no reason.
“The continuous harassment and unjust detaining of a member of House of Representatives, Peller, by the police calls for urgent attention of the media”, the state read.
