The Lagos state police command said it has arrested seventy-five suspected cultists after a clash over supremacy battle in Surulere area yesterday.
A statement from its public relation officer, Dsp Elkana was quoted as saying that at about noon yesterday, police received a distress call that there was gunshot at Pako, Aguda canal.
The spokesman said on getting there, operatives that visited the scene found a corpse of one Alagodo, a 27-year-old, who happened to be a follower of one eluku who is currently in prison over violent crimes.
He added ‘in what look like a revenge mission, some hoodlums from ijesha stormed Aguda in large numbers with cutlass, bottles and stones and other dangerous weapons”.
“The hoodlums destroyed about 22 shops and vandalized some vehicles”.
Elkana said some hoodlums from Aguda equally reacted, ‘one of them from Aguda identified as Timileyin odulana was injured by other opponents from ijesha’’
The victim was rushed to a military hospital in yaba were he was confirmed dead.
The spokesman said police team from special strike force on social miscreants, rapid response squad, area command and Aguda and ijesha police division were all mobilized to the scene.
Elkana said the situation was eventually brought under control adding that seventy five suspects from both sides were arrested.
He said investigation is ongoing and suspects will be charged to court.
