Operatives Burst Baby-Seller Syndicates In Ejigbo, Recover A Week Old Baby: Olusegun Ariyo

The Lagos state police command has recovered a Week old baby through a baby seller syndicate within ejigbo metropolis.

A statement made available to Urban Express News-Online through the Lagos state police public relation officer Dsp Bala Elkana said a team of police attached to the Traffic Police Division within ejigbo metropolis while controlling traffic along jakande gate  noticed a sort of commotion close to her traffic point.

He said the traffic officer intervened and discovered that the misunderstanding was about a lady with name Gift Michael (24) that was  found with a one-week-old baby,  in her company, is her madam who is simply identified as Florence Nkem Douglas (50) both of the same resident at Isheri.

Elkana said the suspects were about to be mobbed due to the alarm raised by those who had been trailing the duo from their residence in Ijegun as the whole community had been suspecting them for long for being in the business of buying and selling of babies in their maternity clinic but for the timely intervention of the traffic policewomen.

The spokesman the two suspects were eventually rescued to ejigbo Divisional police headquarters where an in-depth investigation was conducted.

He said findings eventually revealed that the said Florence Douglas was a native of igueben in Edo state who is not a registered nurse operates two maternity clinics named flofidel clinic and maternity homes with branches in shosanya street, 182 Ijegun road and Okunola ijagemo area.

Elkana said after further interrogation, the suspect Florence admitted to having been in the business of sales of babies for a while.

She revelled further that a baby girl is referred to as “PINK” while a boy is called “BLUE” and are both referred to as a market.

“She further confessed that the male baby found in their custody at jakande gate ejigbo, suspected to be a week old was brought to her from Gombe state en-route Akure  and was to be sold for N500,000.00”

Elkana said the rescued baby who appeared sick with symptoms suspected to be jaundiced was promptly taken to hospital for medical attention
“We discovered pictures of about 50 different babies in her phone, suspected to have already been sold off”.

He said, babies are usually sold between five hundred thousand to one million depending on their sex.

The Lagos state commissioner of police, zubairu Muazu has ordered the state criminal investigation department to take over the investigation and ensure that other members of the syndicates are apprehended.
