There was Pandemonium along Opeki road adjoining Ayobo on Sunday the 5th of May, penultimate week as a result of reckless driving of a commercial Bus driver that ran uncontrollably along ipaja metropolis, making many inhabitants believe the developments could be suspicious especially with the manner with which it drove, attracting the attention of both bystanders and pedestrians.
Urban express News Online gathered that the commercial bus may be a “one-chance” bus that had succeeded in dispossessing passengers of their valuable and could not find its way out of any exit routes as some belief may be because of their inability to identify with those existing routes within ipaja axis.
An eyewitness who simply gave her name as Olubunmi said a Distress call was eventually put through to the police and that a team of ipaja police division had given them hot chase, saying she could not ascertain the outcome of what became of them, she added.
But Confirming the Developments, the Divisional Police officer of ipaja police Division, CSP Tokunbo Abaniwonda told urban express news that indeed a distress call came from a member of the public, and that a particular bus specifically commercial colour known as “One-Chance” with registration number XH 651KRD suspected to have been used to dispossess passengers of their valuables was sighted which influenced their proactive action.
“Upon sighting the bus moving toward Opeki, our team of police anti-robbery operatives gave them a hot chase as they approach an exit route; this was what led to the arrest of oneToheeb Bolaji and Lucky Jonathan”.
CSP Tokunbo said the vehicle was abandoned as the driver was no-where to be found.
“When the vehicle was searched, five phones and some clothes were recovered”
She therefore request for calm within the community as those arrested had given vital statement in connection to the offence, adding that investigation is ongoing
