Lagos state government is set to unveil Bariga waterfront jetty in furtherance to its determination of complimenting road and rail transport within its metropolis

A statement obtained from a verified facebook account of the chief press secretary to the Lagos state governor, Habib Aruna was quoted as saying the named Bariga waterfront jetty, is an initiative of the Lagos state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, and that which is targeted at scaling up the integrated transportation system of the State Government that is aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity within the state.
The Cps said the state of the art jetty is situated at the tail end of the upgraded ilaje road which provides access to the terminal from Akoka road abuts the lagoon, facing the Third mainland bridge.
"On the efforts of the state government in ensuring the jetty is Build in that location, Habib said it took the government strategic effort before it could be able to reclaim the land with an area of over 2000 square meters for the purpose of building the jetty waterfront.
“We Have Ancillary services that include generous parking area that can conveniently accommodate 150 cars and ample space for parking rides, buses for those that will want to park their cars to get to their various destinations through the terminal by ferry”.
Habib said the facilities include other complementary services at the terminal ticketing office, slipway and boat berthing, private boat charter, passengers seating area, restaurant, mini mart, shops, toilets, seat-out area for relaxation, beautification features, as well as security watchtowers, among others.
The Cps said the terminal, ferry services would be provided to connect other existing terminals such as Ipakodo and Badore in Ikorodu axis, Badore in Ajah axis, Five Cowrie Creek Terminal in Falomo, Marina, Ebute Ero, Apapa, among others.
“On the other hand, the newly upgraded 1.1km Ilaje Road is fitted with carriageway and width of 8meters, as well as a dedicated bicycle lane, street lights and covered side drains which serve as walkway”.
