The Lagos state police command said long arm of the law have caught up with some suspected cultist with a location in ikorodu After Deceiving their victims of their fictitious intention of wanting to change money and then turned kidnapper while demanding ransom from their friends and relatives.
Narrating how the suspect was arrested, the Lagos state police public relation officer, Dsp Elkana in a statement said; command received a complaint from ikorodu area that some unidentified persons approached one Alhaji Yakubu Musa and Alhaji Hassan Umaru, both operators of Bureau De change Agents at Benson, a location at ikorodu metropolis informing them that they have a relation who returned from overseas and in need of 10, 000 us dollars
Elkana said they initially requested that payment will be made in a bank at ikorodu but on getting to the bank, the suspects moved the operators to an unknown destination and started demanding for ransom from their friends and relatives.
The statement put further that despite paying the sum of one million, six hundred thousand Naira as ransom, their abductors refuse to release the victims and nothing more was heard from them, adding that the victims had phone remained switched off.
The police spokesman said the Lagos state commissioner of police zubairu Muazu detailed the commander, special Anti-robbery squad to carry out an in-depth investigation into the matter with a view of rescuing the victims and apprehending the suspects
He said this was how operatives from ipakodo base led by SP Godfrey Soriwei arrested two suspects, with name oluwatosin olanrewaju (40), Mayowa Olawumi Aka general and Babatunde Idris Aka Aloma.
Elkana said the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and led operatives to their den at ikorodu where they dumped the corpses in a septic tank.
Item recovered includes; Two locally made revolver pistol with three live ammunition, one cutlass, one axe and some other charms.
He said investigation revealed that the suspects had at various times used an abandoned company as their den, where their entire target is killed and dumped in the septic tank
Other recoveries include four decomposed bodies deposited by the suspects in a septic tank for autopsy
The spokesman said the suspects confessed to have killed the other two rival cult members and dumped them equally inside the septic tank before killing the two Bureau De change agent’s operators
“They are currently assisting the police in the arrest of the other fleeing members of the gangs, as the investigation continues, and those suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed”, the statement read!
