How Police Nabbed Fake Producer of Adulterated Alcoholic Products In Lagos

Stemming the tide against the influx of fake alcoholic products gaining access  into Lagos state is yielding fruits as operatives of Lagos state police command through it division  with a location  at pen cinema  led by SP Edobor had arrested  one Emmanuel  Nwodu  with residence at Fagba at iju ishaga metropolis

The suspect accordingly was arrested through a team of operative along moshalashi beside a market at Sango, in Agege with two cartons of Alcoholic drink suspected to be adulterated

The Lagos state police public relation officer, CSP chike Oti told urban express news online that the suspect, on interrogation, confessed that he produces the drinks in his one-room shop at mosalashi at Agege.

Oti said the suspect, (Emmanuel) latter led operatives to the said shop in a location @ mosalashi, market street where he concocts the drink.

He said a search was later obtained and subsequently, upon enforcing the warrant,  it discovered 30 litres of chemical substance  suspected to be ethanol, two  cartons of elders Aromatic schnapps suspected to be fake, fifty-one small bottles of Chelsea dry gin suspected to be fake, thirty-five pieces of Chelsea cork label  of lords Chelsea and alcoholic drinks.

The suspect has been charged to court and has been granted bail but yet to perfect bail condition and so was remanded in prison custody
Reiterating their commitment, Oti said certain ugly incidence had occurred in the past at Ajuwon market in Mushin where the command arrested and prosecuted a 55-year-old trader, Benjamin Ojukwu who was involved in the production and distribution of fake wine and alcoholic drinks.

"We equally made another leeway when the commissioner of police, imohimi Edgal led operatives to arrest  the owners of an illegal brewery, valued at one hundred and twenty million Naira  where fake stout and malt drinks were produced at igbogbo  Bayeku  area in ikorodu’’

He said the factory has been closed

The Lagos state commissioner of police, Mr Imohimi Edgal has directed all Area commanders, Divisional police officers and head of investigating units to take the issue of public safety and security seriously by looking out for those behind this type of trade and ensure such categories of people are arrested and prosecuted
