In response to viral video reports making the rounds on social media platform alleging three policemen attached to Lagos state police command stationed within Ikeja metropolis are found to be gambling and counting their wins as against the contrary views that they were counting money allegedly obtained through bribery means
A statement issued by the Lagos state police command’s spokesman, Chike Oti, a superintendent of police, said a team of operatives drafted to the scene had successfully picked the said cops allegedly caught in the act at Ikeja in its swift response as a result.
He said: “Based on the allegation, the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, ordered for their arrest, detention and trial. A preliminary investigation into the case revealed that the men were not counting bribes received as alleged but coupons they collected from a game of gambling, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, which they played.
“The men are currently facing disciplinary actions that could lead to a reduction in rank or dismissal. It is wrong to engage in such distracting activity while on duty.
The Lagos commissioner of police, Mr imohimi Edgal is encouraging members of the public to always expose, albeit accurately, indiscipline and unprofessional policemen.”
