The Lagos state police command has commenced investigation over what it described as severe child abuse coming from a mother who after alleging her daughter of not being faithful returning back N250 to her boss, instead gives false claims "saying she gave her mother the remaining balance and in reaction, the mother allegedly pelted her with a hot iron as result.
This whole development was reported by chosen child orphanage home with a location at gastya estate in ijora Badia on behalf of Aishat sheriff, a sixteen-year-old girl.
In a statement made available to urban express news-online through its public relation officer, Chike Oti, a superintendent of police said; preliminary investigation into the matter shows that the sixteen years old Aishat sheriff was pelted with hot iron by her biological mother Ayo Sheriff (30) years on her upper and lower limb after going through a process of switching on the iron in waiting, and after sighting her, it was alleged the biological mother went ahead and pelt her with the iron over N250 theft allegation the daughter alleged she received from her
Oti said Aishat is a secondary school student and also a part-time student nurse in an auxiliary capacity.
Narrating the victim’s ordeal with her biological mother, the public relation officer said Aisha was given a sum of five hundred naira by her boss coming with an instruction to distribute some part of it, and equally to use fifty naira to transport herself back home and then return a balance of two hundred and fifty naira. But rather than returning it, the said Aishat claims she gave the balance N250 to her mother.
“Trouble ensued when Aishat defaulted, after claiming she has given her mother (Ayo Sheriff) a balance of N250 out of the N500 given and that which is not true reflection of what actually happened wherein reaction, prompted her Boss to call the mother for confirmation, and was told nothing of such transpired and indeed prompted the action leading her mother using iron to pelt her daughter, “there is no justification putting laws into her hand by inflicting injury of such on her daughter, “Oti submits
He said this was what made the mother, waited for Aishat’s return, before then, plugged an electric iron and allegedly pelted her on the surface of her skin.
“Those developments were what miffed the commissioner of police Mr Imohimi Edgal after sighting the injury inflicted on a child by her biological mother and had since ordered the mother’s arrest’’
He said the commissioner of police is using this medium to call on parents to correct their child in love adding that the rate at which cases of domestic violence is increasing is now a source of concern to the command
“The gender section of the command after concluding its investigation would charge the suspect to court”
