Mikel, Moses Battle Pitch Awards

Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, Chelsea midfielder, Victor Moses, and Wilfred Ndidi were among the top players announced as nominees for the top marble of the Nigeria Pitch Football awards billed for June this year.

In the Queen of the Pitch category, Asisat Oshoala led other nominees for the umpteenth time. But she is expected to battle the duo of Rasheedat Ajibade and Ruben Charity.

Shina Phillips, President of The Nigeria Pitch Awards is optimistic that the noble aims of putting in place a credible and transparent awards system for Nigerian footballers have been justified since its inception a few years ago.
“The Nigeria Pitch Award has grown to become a significant part of our football and calendar. We are proud of the standard set and the high quality of award winners” Phillips stated during a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.

With previous editions of the Nigeria Pitch Awards held in Calabar, Kaduna and Uyo, Lagos has received the nod to host this year’s event is planned for June.
