The Drive for safer communities and fuller lives in Lagos neighbourhood has been the adoption of  Inspector General of police IGP’s Concept of community policing in Lagos state, the police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal has said.

The Lagos state police Boss disclosed this in an interactive session with some selected journalists.

He said the state command owes its successes recorded in the fight against crime and criminality in the state to the clear-cut policy objectives of the inspector general of police through the use of community policing tools and strategies

“On behalf of officers and men of Lagos state police command, I wish to reassure the inspector general of police of our absolutes loyalty and commitments to duty.”

“We have explicit confidence in our IGP, essential in his policy directives that are creating impacts everywhere. For instance, surrendering of firearms across the country is still yielding results, "in ikorodu  recently, we have in our record where some youths did surrender their arms, all these can be attributed to the idea behind the inspector general of police's wise thoughts in ridding the country out of  crime and proliferation of firearms.”

Continuing, Imohimi Edgal said part of IGP Ibrahim Idris stands is in the fact that, since police derive its powers from the constitution, it is therefore of importance that Nigeria police must be seen as ensuring that everyone is obedient to law and order, and that has become a motivating force that is driving the command in upholding rules of law in each of its engagements with Nigerians.

The Lagos police Boss is, therefore, calling on Nigerians to  continue supporting the inspector general of police,(IGP) Ibrahim Idris  in its onerous task of policing the nation and ensuring the restoration of peace, law and other in the entire country
