The eventuality that would have terminated a two year old boy’s life has no doubt taken over by nature to the surprise of many, after the vehicle conveying the infant backtracked, moved into a golly sites leaving the boy with severe injury as a result of the hasty decision of his mother who according to a statement made available to urban express news-online, left the boy in her car to pick up something in their residence.
The statement put further that the said victim is battling injuries at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos
The Lagos state police public relation officer SPchike Oti said the mother Mrs Olaore Yetunde, was driving out of her residence on Adetoro Adelaja street Magodo on Thursday when she realised she left some items back home with the understanding of coming back to pick them up.
“She was said to have hurriedly parked her vehicle, left her son therein and rushed in to pick the item”.
“Before she came back, the vehicle according to Oti had backtracked out of the gate to the road and slid into a gully site opposite the residence
He said the boy was rescued by some operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Lagos State Command on a patrol around the area.
“The gully was about 20-foot deep. What we did not know whether the engine was running when the woman rushed in to pick what she forgot. It is also possible that she did not put the vehicle on"
The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, is, therefore, advising parents to avoid leaving little children alone in their cars, adding that the command had resolved to prosecute negligent parents.
