President Mohammadu Buhari’s second term bid declaration on Monday for second term coming is being faced with more criticism as a human right activist and leading opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) says he performed abysmally, and as justification, request Nigerians to vote him out.

But while receiving the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Just Welby in London, the United Kingdom yesterday, the president said he declared before leaving home because Nigerians were talking too much about whether he would run or not, saying “breaking the ice was just it.
Justifying his re-election bid, President Mohammadu Buhari in a statement by his media Adviser said he has made more successes in the past three years span of his administration.
Continuing, Femi Adeshina said  President Buhari’s administration is being able to cut the importation of rice by about 90%, saving billions of dollars in the process. “People who rushed into petrol money have now gone back to agriculture”. “Even professionals have gone back to the land. Nigeria should be able to feed itself comfortably soon, he submits. I am so pleased,” he said.
On the war against insurgency, he stressed the need for the continuous education of the people “so that they can be free from religious manipulation,” noting that no true religion advocates the hurting or killing of the innocent.
But in reaction to this, human right activist and constitutional lawyer, chief mike ozekhome is calling on Nigerian to reject the president.
The lawyer who spoke on politics today (yesterday), a platform on Channels Television Broadcast station monitored by urban express news correspondent said the second leg of Buhari's campaign to stamp out insecurity did not happen
“We’ve had many gates that we are yet to hear their outcome and you say someone is fighting corruption? “On which ground should Nigerians base their decision of re-electing the president on, he asked”?
The lawyer said although Buhari has the constitutional right to contest for a second term, said he had performed “abysmally and disastrously below average.”
His words: “At campaign rallies across Nigeria, he convinced gullible Nigerians that as a retired military General, he would lead from the front to crush Boko Haram. Indeed, he gleefully told a bemused country in December 2015 that Boko Haram had been ‘technically defeated’, and repeated it in 2016 that it ‘had been beaten.’ But, Nigerians know that Boko Haram is stronger today, more potent and more deadly than it ever was.
“He had promised to fight corruption. Three years down the line, he has not secured a single conviction of any high-profile politically-exposed person.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s leading opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Buhari’s administration of pushing the country to the brink by breaching the constitution, the law and all known democratic process
It also alleged that the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its agents have resorted to harassing and persecuting members of the opposition with a view to decapitating opposition and other dissenting voices and foist a one-party state on Nigeria.
National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, said at a press conference at its national secretariat in Abuja and declared that: “Our dear nation is now passing through its darkest hours. Our constitutional democracy is under severe attack.
“Agents of fascism are on the prowl. As we speak, Nigeria is being pushed to the brink and personal freedom of citizens under our constitution is no longer guaranteed
He further alleged that there was an orchestrated plan by the APC-led Federal Government to use state apparatuses of power to coerce, emasculate and effectively decapitate the opposition and other dissenting voices.
“They want to foist a one-party state and push a self-succession bid for President Buhari, seeing that their chances of winning the presidential election get slimmer by the day,” he stated.
On the persecution of members of the opposition party, he said the APC had commenced a major onslaught on leaders and key voices of the PDP, particularly governors, opposition leaders in the National Assembly, as well as its presidential hopefuls.

“You are already aware of the exposed plots by the APC and the Federal Government to frame up and humiliate the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremmadu, as well as PDP governors, particularly Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayo Fayose.”
The PDP also alleged that the APC-led Federal Government had set up a special presidential committee to persecute its leaders adding: “No fewer than 28 cases have been filed based on trumped-up charges.”

“We are also privy to a series of clandestine meetings between agents of the APC and some compromised judicial officers to convict a key member of the opposition party at all cost.”
