The Lagos state police command has commenced an investigation into Allegation of a reported case of maltreatment allegedly meted out to one Mr James ibe –Anyanwu.
Mr James Accordingly, had made frantic effort at reaching the police authority before he was said to have sneaked into a toilet of one the commercial bank along okota where he was able to post a comment on his facebook account "saying SARS operatives are out there waiting to arrest him, and that his Facebook friends should help share his post in other than it reaches the authority after the initial inhuman maltreatment meted out on him by the operatives of State Anti-robbery Squad (SARS)" along Ago palace way okota, a part of Lagos metropolis.
This, according to the command’s public relation officer, chike Oti, a superintendent of police, said "the command, in line with the directives of the commissioner of police, here by note; "that the general public is here by informed, that in furtherance to the allegation leveled against operatives of the state anti-robbery squad (SARS) over a case of maltreatments coming from one Mr James Anyanwu, the commissioner of police, Mr. imohimi Edgal had directed a succinct inquires into the said matter with the mandate of fishing out all the said culprit
“The command wishes to state that furtherance to these developments, it has been able to identify those officers and their locations”.
“The command had discovered that those involved are from the ipakodo base of the state anti-robbery squad (SARS) and not from the Ikeja unit as was previously reported”
He said those arrested after a preliminary investigation, found to be involved include one inspector Taiwo Omojope, inspector Arigidi Ebibor, Sgt Rotimi Adesola, Olalekan olakunle and Friday Oni.
Chike said although, inspector Jude was found to be innocent, adding that those found culpable as mentioned earlier are currently under questioning at the command and would soon be taken to police provost for the commencement of their trials.
