The Police Service Commission had approved the promotion of 414 senior police officers to their next ranks.
In a Statement released by the Commission’s Head of information Mr ikechukwu Ani said Three Commissioners of Police, CPs, were promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIGs; four Deputy Commissioners, DCPs, to Commissioners of Police, CPs and 12 Assistant Commissioners, ACPs, to Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCPs.
The three Commissioners of Police promoted to AIG are CP Ibrahim, CP Istifanus Shettima and CP Jimoh Ozi-Obeh. The new Commissioners of Police are Bello Yahaya, Fave Semali, Mukaddas Garba and D. D. Galadanchi. Ani, said: “The promotions formed the high point of the 26th plenary meeting of the commission held in Abuja from February 27 to March 1, 2018, and presided over by Chairman of the Commission, Dr Mike Okiro, former Inspector-General of Police.
“The commission also approved the promotion of 61 Chief Superintendents of Police, CSPs, to Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACPs; 30 Superintendents of Police, SPs, to Chief Superintendents of Police, CSPs; 48 Deputy Superintendents of Police, DSPs, to Superintendents of Police, SP,s and 65 Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASPs, to Deputy Superintendents of Police, DSPs, while 191 Inspectors were elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police, ASPs.Some of the Assistant Commissioners promoted to Deputy Commissioners are Michael Aliyu, Danladi Lalas, Hilary Igwe, Williams Adebowale, Sadiq Abubakar and Rabi Umar. Others are Stephen Hasso, Shehu Shuaibu, Shehu Gwarzo, Josephine Nneka, Abubakar Baba, Sadiq Abubakar, Abdulazeez Obansa and Patrick Boroh. The promotions have been conveyed to the Inspector General of Police for implementation in a letter by Mr Musa Istifanus, Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Commission.
