Lagos state police Command has refuted claims of report going viral online saying it command has in its custody, one Olaniyan Yemi, a final Year student of Osun state university. It was also alleged in the said report that Olaniyan came to Lagos on the 28th of February without mentioning in narrative, the particular year the whole incident occurred, but rather, told the purpose that brought the student to Lagos which is “ to submit his industrial Training (IT) form at the Institute of chartered accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) in Lagos and was subsequently reported missing where the report puts it that the said student went to ojodu Police Division to pass the night.
In Refuting those claims, Police Public Relation Officer, Sp Chike Oti, in a statement made available to urban Express-news online said there was never a time in its record it had any name called Yemi Olaniyan in Ojodu Police Division as alleged.” There was no record to show that the said Yemi Olaniyan was at any police station in Lagos state either as visitor or detainee” adding that no police station operates as a guest house to which he said must be sounded”.
The Police Public Relation officer rather admonish the concerned family to officially report any case of missing person to the police in other for the matter to be thoroughly investigated. “For instance, detectives would want to know which of the (ICAN) offices in Lagos did the said missing person go for the submission of his document, this is because there is no ICAN office close to Ojodu Police station”. “There is also claims that the said missing student is a first time visitor to Lagos”, if that were actually correct, detectives would also be willing to know if any arraignment is made for him to contact anybody on arrival”
Oti advise the family involved to rather be hasty at reporting the whole matter to any nearest police division adding that doing it would rather be a stitch in time
