In its resolution of minimizing the rate of crime within Lagos metropolis, Lagos state police command parade gangs of suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, cultist and other criminals in possession of firearms.
Parading the suspects to journalists, the commissioner of police Mr.imohimi Edgal said it has become important telling the inhabitants of Lagos about every crime developments in the state in other for them to know and be informed about the latest tactics those armed robbers currently adopt in carrying out their dastardly acts and also to sound the alarm that Lagos state police command is indeed equal to task.
The commissioner of police also hinted on the Directive he Disseminated to all area commands and Police Divisions, carrying out the order of the inspector general of police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, Directing the withdrawal of police attached to VIPs. According to Edgal, the withdrawal of police from VIPs is long overdue, stressing that all officers attached should be withdrawn without exception.
Continuing, Edgal said its command in a joint operation with operatives of federal Anti-robbery Squad (FSARS) in Yaba, along Abule ijesha, successfully nip on board, the activities of secret cult group members that are disturbing the peace in the area. This, he said was made possible after the arrest of its notorious members Chukudi Nduka Age (36) and Abang Faith (34). “The duo had confessed to having been behind numerous crimes committed in Abule ijesha leading to unrest in the environment”.
The commissioner of police, describing another scene where incident of armed robbery had occurred, and in manner men of his command was proactive, said after police received complaints from one Mr Akinlade Ajibola, a residence of Iyana ipaja with location at foluwaji Olufemi street along Baruwa, operatives of the command swung into action and apprehended those that are alleged to have committed the crime. Suspects include Chima Richard Aka Virgin Boy (20), Abdullahi Gambo (24), Najeep Abubakar (25), Michael Dayo (20). The suspects confessed to being carrying out their heinous crimes within ipaja and Alaba Rago, a suburb in Lagos metropolis
Narrating how two hoodlums in possession of firearms took to their heels, Mr Imohimi Edgal told journalists that team of detectives on patrol at the royal garden estate in Ajah; on citing police van dropped off their bags ran into the bush in other to evade arrest. He said an investigation into the case reveals the suspect’s intention to divert the Uber driver to a comely place and snatch the car, as they were on their way to execute their plans, luck ran out from them.

He said the suspect, Mohammed Usman (41) and John Thank- god (25) had been remanded in prison custody for two months before they were released on bail. “Adding that. “Thank- god on his own, conspired with the other suspect to buy the said car at the rate of (350,000) three hundred and fifty thousand Naira, but made a dawn payment of hundred thousand and as they embark on their journey to jigawa they were apprehended by the operatives of Lagos police command
Edgal said trafficking and running of underage prostitutes is unbecoming within our society, he said after the command discovered that some individual are running a prostitution ring in an hotel at Iyana ipaja with location at ige street with many under-age girls imported to Lagos, he said team of police operatives from the command stormed the scene, and arrested one glory Asuquo with age bracket of (15) who confessed that she was brought to the said hotel some weeks back. “I was ask to stay with one Monica”, Asuquo said. explaning further, Edgal said some of the suspect confessed to be ex-convicts. “ A manhunt has been lunched against other members of the gangs that is yet to be arrested,” he said their confession is what led to the recovery of an unregistered Toyota Avalon car belonging to one Mr. Anthony, a residence of lekki garden estate while he was away in a far eastern part of the country.
On cult activity, the commissioner of police said operatives of the command arrest one Nwapa Chukwuebuka at ladipo market. The suspect is said to have confessed of being a member of a cult group and an armed robber.
“The command also made some arrest through the Anti-kidnapping squad,” this, the commissioner of police said happened in Epe. According to him, some suspected armed kidnapper abducted one Adebola Ogunyemi, a retired bank Manager and Mrs. Abosede Killani after series of investigation, one Lukman Fokojoh (35) was arrested and would be charged to court as soon as investigations is concluded.
Items recovered include Two Pump Action Gun, One Double Barrel gun, fifteen live cartridges, one medium sized cutlass, one Axe, one knife, five bags of weeds suspected to be hemp, one locally made double barrel gun, one locally made revolver pistol, one live ammunition 9mm caliber, one cutlass, two knifes, one Samsung 56 phones, one Ak 47 rifle with S/No 0775, two rounds of live ammunition, one pump action gun, with serial number P11574, two unexpected cartridges, one unregistered black Toyota Avalon car of 2016 model, one unregistered light green Subaru jeep, ten different bank ATM/credit cards, four cut size double barrel pistol fifteen live cartridges , pump action gun with a cartridges and pump action rife.
The commissioner of police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal urge Lagos residents to be careful with the use of UBER, Taxify and other private cab operators to avoid taking customers to an unknown destination. While requesting residence to key into the slogan of ‘’if you see something, say something and if you say something, we will surely do something”.
