Lagos Police Parades Suspected Criminal Gangs, Raises Hope on Kidnapped ikorodu Students By Tinuade Abe-Alimi



The Lagos state police command yesterday parade suspected criminal gangs who are involved in one heinous activity and the other, leading to their arrest. Parading the suspects during a press briefing, the Assistant Commissioner of police Umar sarajudeen said it has become very important giving Nigerians updates of those apprehended on various crimes within their surroundings in other for more consciousness.


 ‘’ Our purpose today is to give Nigerians updates in our efforts to rids our environment from criminal activities, at-least to bearable minimum’’. Continuing, the commissioner of police said arrest made so far includes 16 Suspected Armed robbers, 3 cultists engaging in heinous acts culpable of creating unrest within our societies, 13 rifles with other specification of ammunitions numbering 224, 70 vehicles and 2 suspected kidnappers.

 The Assistant Commissioner of police attributed all said as an act culpable of destroying the society. Umar said just last week, police operative under its command intercepted an English brown Beretta pistol with live ammunition in a parcel luggage during routine check within lekki phase one axes. He said it was while intensifying their investigation was what lead to the recovery of 229 live cartridges in the residence of one of it’s’ suspects! Speaking further, Acp Umar said on the 10th of June in the wee hours, some armed robbers who specialize in snatching vehicle with their gang were apprehended along Badagry axis by men of the command where one escaped during gun duel whilst five of its members where successfully nabbed.


 He said the command, on 13th of April 2017, arrested some suspected gang of cultist at ikorodu, where operatives of the command successfully recovered locally made pistol from them, ‘’ similar arrest were also made at itire where we had casualty leading to the death of an individual’’. The Assistant Commissioner of police gave an account of how an individual was caught in possession of arm and a human part. He said the suspect was arrested by one of its officer disguisings as a buyer. Urging Nigerians posting on social media to always check the fact before posting, said the issues surrounding Pos Machine as alleged to be having one of his men being involved remains untrue, and that it was figments of imagination to have in possession, Pos with a policemen handling it as narrated’’. We are Nigeria’s police;
 ‘’We represent the image of this country; ‘’Nigerians should try and make good use of social media in information dissemination essentially through social media’’.  Accordingly, he said all hand must be on deck in ensuring the sustainable image of the force and not otherwise! On the issue of ‘’Evans’’, the notorious kidnapper, the Assistant Commissioner of police said the general public should continue corporate with the police as a partnership between both parties could lead to the eradication of kidnapping and other criminal offences.

 ‘’We are now in the era of mobile policing where you ‘’see something and say something’’, ‘’ the Inspector General of police, Ibrahim Idris remain resolute in the area of openness and transparency where members of the public are admonished to report any offences through telecommunication devices attached to police patrol vehicles’’ ‘’I urge members of the public to please have confidence in the police and also, not hesitate to share information as at when due’’.

Regarding the kidnapped school children at ikorodu, the Assistant Commissioner of police said an investigation is still on-going, ‘’I will not want to give details of our efforts so far, but certainly, Nigerians should know that the police is not folding its hands, soonest, Nigerians will see result’’. He said proper security measure is now being taken in Lagos states model school kankon, Badagry where kidnappers had sent letter informing the management of its intention of picking their wards for ransom. ‘’ we have now been able to identify all school with potential flashpoint for criminal and ensure better security intervention where it will no longer be possible for those planning to pick for ransom get easy target anymore’’! Interviewing one of the suspected criminal gang that specializes in motorcycle theft with name Tunde Adebisi, He told urban express news online that Nigeria police should spare him, whilst promising to be of good behaviour.
